Houston Public Media launched the Young Leaders Council in May 2018, bringing together a diverse group of young professionals with a personal connection to public media.
The launch marked a new chapter in the station’s history, one that thrives on deepened community relationships and engaging future generations. The Young Leaders Council represents a cross section of the communities Houston Public Media serves, and works to spread its mission.

Brand Ambassadors in Action
As some of the station's greatest ambassadors out in the community, members of the council share their personal public media stories and encourage others to listen, watch, engage, and support Houston Public Media.
Defining Success
If selected to participate in the council, you must commit to attending quarterly meetings, as well as participate in various activation efforts such as:
Brainstorming meetings and focus groups with staff and key station stakeholders
Networking gatherings with HPM staff and HPM Foundation Board
Promoting station-wide campaigns as well as new programming and content initiatives
Deepened Involvement
Members of the council represent a new generation of public media supporters and offer insight on ways to reach new audiences.
