Where does the Houston area end and when does ‘out of town’ begin?

From the moment we launched this show more than 10 years ago, we decided to define the "Houston area" broadly – that we wouldn't just cover what's happening in the city limits, or merely "inside the loop." That we would think of Greater Houston as stretching as far as, well, most any place, and any thing, that...matters to Houston. That we'd introduce Houstonians to one another and that meant someone listening to us from The Woodlands, or Sugar Land, or Katy, would be just as much a part of our daily conversations as someone in Midtown, or Montrose, or Third Ward, or The Heights.

But we'd never really drawn a hard and fast line about who is and isn't in the Greater Houston area, until July 25, 2022, when we asked your fellow Houstonians what they thought — and, as we had suspected — there wasn't a lot of agreement.

It was, however, fun to talk about with our listeners and with Jack Young. He’s the head of the Professional Actor Training Program and professor of acting and movement at the University of Houston. And Jessica Brown, the co-director of Station Theater, who also has a background in tourism and public relations.
