HOUSTON – University of Houston students volunteered their time to pick up trash around Hennessy Park north of downtown Saturday.
Some of the volunteers who chipped in were part of the American Conservation Coalition, a non-profit organization that mobilizes young people to act on environmental issues.

The organization cleaned up parks and served members of the homeless community all throughout Houston.
Members hope this sparks an environmental movement rooted in local action across the country.
“Even the most underrepresented, undervalued communities need care and volunteerism, so we are out here trying to pick up the trash and really make it a better place for the people who live here and passing by,” said Zack Abnet, member of the American Conservation Coalition.
The organization said it is always looking for volunteers to participate in local efforts. For more information on how to help, click here.
