PUBLIC/ATION Chapbook

Submission Guidelines: 

• Eligibility: Submissions are open to current, enrolled undergraduate students within the University of Houston System (University of Houston, University of Houston-Downtown, University of Houston-Clear Lake, and University of Houston-Victoria).
• We will accept works of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction in English and/or Spanish totaling 1500 words or less.
• Submissions are limited to one per student. Please upload your writing as a single PDF file.
• Submissions must connect to one or more artworks among Public Art UHS’s permanent collection or temporary exhibitions or installations.
• Submissions must be previously unpublished.

Permissions and Usage:

• Final selections of writing will appear in the chapbook, which will be printed in a limited, numbered series. All published authors will receive a complimentary copy of the publication. 
• Works may also appear on the Public Art UHS website with full credit to the author. 
• Works may be used or referenced during Public Art UHS tours with full credit to the author. 
• Submissions may appear along with an illustration by a UH System student that conveys the artist’s interpretation of the submission and/or the artwork(s) that inspired it.
