The University of Houston contains the largest portion of the collection, representing approximately 300 artworks. It is also home to Public Art UHS’ several temporary public art programs.

Parking: When coming on to campus, the most convenient parking lot to begin your tour is Lot 16B, located across from Wilhelmina’s Grove near Moores Opera House in UH’s Arts District.

Metered arts parking is available in UH Lot 16 (Zone B) or at the neighboring Elgin Street Garage.

UH students, faculty and staff with a valid parking pass, regardless of assigned zone, can park in Lot 16 (Zone B) during evenings and weekends free of charge.

Directions:

From North or West of Downtown:

  • I-45 South, exit Cullen Blvd.
  • Turn right on Cullen Blvd.
  • Continue past Elgin
  • Turn left into 1st entrance past Elgin, #16
  • Turn left at the stop sign into the Visitor parking lot
  • Walk straight across the courtyard towards the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts (located between the Moores School of Music and the School of Fine Art)

From South or East of Downtown:

  • I-45 North, exit # 44 Elgin-Lockwood-Cullen Blvd
  • Turn left on Elgin
  • Turn left onto Entrance #18 (small street at light)
  • Turn right at the stop sign in front oaf Architecture building
  • Continue to pedestrian crosswalk at stop sign and turn right
  • Walk straight across the courtyard towards the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts (located between the Moores School of Music and the School of Fine Arts)

Without Freeways:

  • Take Westheimer east (it will turn into Elgin)
  • Turn right on Cullen Blvd.
  • Turn left into 1st entrance past Elgin, #16
  • Turn left at the stop sign into the Visitor parking lot
