The Quest for Environmental and Climate Justice featuring Robert Bullard
Friday, September 23, 2022
11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Robert D. Bullard is known as the father of environmental justice. In this lecture, he will use examples from his research on Houston, the Gulf Coast, and beyond to show how race and class still map closely with pollution, unequal protection, and vulnerability. Reducing environmental, health, economic, and racial disparities is a major priority in the ongoing quest for environmental and climate justice. In 2020, Bullard was awarded the UN Champion of the Earth Lifetime Achievement Award, the UN’s highest environmental honor. In 2008, Newsweek named Bullard one of 13 Environmental Leaders of the Century.
