On June 9 — the one-year anniversary of George Floyd’s funeral in Houston — from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m., the UH Racial Equity and Social Justice Committee is sponsoring a virtual forum entitled: “George Floyd: Where Are We After One Year?

Experts in law, trauma and policing will address the psychological impact of his death and subsequent events, whether justice was served by the Chauvin conviction, police accountability then and now, the causes of unjust police killings, the status of police reforms and proposed legislative proposals, the public’s attitude toward racial grievances and equities and hate crimes against Asian Americans, Hispanics and transgender women.
