Parking Tips and Reminders

Faculty and Staff,

Throughout the fall semester, regardless of whether you are on campus one or more days per week, please be aware of the following helpful tips and reminders applicable to all faculty and staff.

Relaxed Parking Rules Remain in Effect Until Jan. 19, 2021

From now until 7 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, which is the first day of the spring semester, anyone with a valid UH parking permit can park in any of the ungated faculty-staff or ungated student parking lots at anytime, with the exception of restricted spaces, which include reserved, disabled, 20-minute unloading and metered spaces. Also, please know that if you choose to park in a metered space, you must pay the meter, regardless of if you have a valid UH permit, as metered spaces are available as an option for everyone only by first-come, first serve hourly transactional parking, and are not for permit parking.

Make Sure You Have a Valid Permit

A valid permit is required to park on campus, unless you elect to use paid visitor parking. Visit our customer service location in University Lofts to purchase your permit. Please use our virtual line service and follow campus COVID-19 guidelines for your visit to our offices.

Stay Cougar Safe When Parking

  • Be aware of your surroundings when parking in a garage or parking lot.
  • Don't leave valuables in your vehicle.
  • Lock your vehicle doors.
  • Stay informed on current campus safety tips by following recommendations on the Stay Cougar Safe website.
  • Follow @staycougarsafe on Twitter.

Shuttle Service is Limited

Currently, the number of Cougar Line shuttle routes and frequency has been reduced to accommodate the current transportation volume on campus. There is one circulator route serving campus (including the UH Technology Bridge). In addition, the University of Houston at Sugar Land shuttle route is in operation. More information on the Cougar Line routes can be found here. Also, the Cougar Ride late-night van service is still in operation this semester, with reduced hours.

We welcome your feedback on how we can be of service to you. Should you have any questions, please email parking@uh.edu or call 832-842-1097.
