UH Law Center Professor in the National Spotlight

Renee Knake Jefferson, the Joanne and Larry Doherty Chair in Legal Ethics and Professor of Law, recently appeared on MSNBC, CNN, the Texas Standard, in Politico, and the New York Daily News as an expert on the Supreme Court and judicial ethics.


The New York Times features celebrated UH professor

Grieving: Dispatches From a Wounded Country by Christina Rivera-Garza is recently featured in The New York Times book review. Dr. Rivera-Garza is the founder and director of the UH doctoral program in Hispanic Studies with a Concentration in Creative Writing in Spanish, in addition to an internationally acclaimed writer. She is also one of very few teaching faculty to receive an honorary doctorate in Humane Letters from the University of Houston.


UH alumna Afton Battle is named the Fort
Worth Opera's head director.
 Battle said that her top goals are to grow the opera company’s young artist program and to make Fort Worth’s opera company the “people’s opera company.”

Charles “C.J.” Dale, in the O.D./M.S. program at the UH College of Optometry, is the recipient of the 2020 Vision Care Section Distinguished Student Service Award from the American Public Health Association.

The Advanced Media Technology Laboratory at the Hines College of Architecture and Design at the University of Houston is nearing completion for 2021. It is expected to be the first-of-its-kind research robotics and 3D printing lab in the region.
