There will be a learning abroad trip to Israel this May led by University of Houston (UH), Professor David Mikics (dmikics@uh.edu) from the English Department and Carol Cooper. The trip will be guided by Alex Stein and is open to all UH students. You must register for the trip by February 10th and the register link is here. The cost of the trip is between $5,025 - $5,300 depending on the amount of students travelling. A required $500 will be required by February with two additional payments due in March and April.

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences will host the "Sociology in Action Lecture" by Dr. Greg Scott. Dr. Greg Scott considers the problems and prospects of using visual research and arts-based methods to examine and portray vulnerable persons and communities, including former prisoners, people who use drugs, sex workers, and the chronically unhoused.
