As a reminder, the University of Houston will host the American Heart Association’s Houston Heart Walk this Saturday (Nov. 9). The event will draw thousands of people and will impact campus parking and traffic.

  • No vehicles will be allowed to enter ungated parking lots 12A and 12B adjacent to TDECU Stadium starting 3 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday, Nov. 7) until after the event ends on Saturday. If you park in these lots, please move your vehicle out by 3 p.m. Thursday. If you cannot relocate your vehicle by that time, you have until 6 a.m. Friday, at which time any remaining vehicles will be towed. Please note: You are allowed to park in any of the other ungated lots on campus with your valid UH parking permit after 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday and all day Friday-Sunday.
  • The Stadium Garage student and visitor sections, and ungated lots 9C and 8A will be used for paid event parking on Saturday. You do not need to relocate your vehicles from these locations, but expect congestion and delays that day. Students with a valid Stadium Garage permit will be allowed entry into the garage by showing the attendant their permit. In addition, anyone with a valid UH parking permit will be able to enter lots 9C and 8A without having to pay by showing the attendant their permit.
  • Numerous roads on campus will be blocked from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, including southbound lanes of Spur 5, Cullen Boulevard (both directions of travel) from Cougar Place Drive to Elgin Street, westbound lanes of University Drive, and the eastbound lanes of Elgin Street from Cullen to Spur 5. Expect delays getting to and leaving campus during this time.

In addition, there are several other scheduled walks to be aware of in the coming weeks and months that may impact parking:

  • Nov. 23: Girls on the Run event
  • April 4: Out of the Darkness Walk

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
