College of Medicine Celebrates the Historic Legacy of
Rebecca Lee Crumpler, M.D.

The Women of the African Diaspora at the UH College of Medicine created a video tribute to celebrate Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler, the first Black American female physician in the United States. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee signed a Congressional Proclamation naming Dr. Crumpler's birthday, February 8, as National Black Women Physicians Day.


College of Nursing Assists Fort Bend with COVID-19 Vaccination Efforts

The UH College of Nursing joined Fort Bend County efforts to vaccinate residents against COVID-19. The teams of faculty, staff, students, and alumni volunteered more than 230 hours in one week at the Rosenberg Annex Clinic and the Smart Financial Centre. 


Phillip Kieval, a second-year CLASS graduate student in philosophy, has been named a recipient of the 2021 Gates Cambridge Scholarship. Kieval is the first UH student to receive this prestigious fellowship. He is one of 25 students chosen from 638 candidates across the country to study at the University of Cambridge in fall 2021.

The Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management Dean’s Undergraduate Student Advisory Council planned and led the first Hospitality Graduate School Fair with 19 participating graduate schools. The program was a great success and will become a recurring event every semester.

Associate Professor Nina Huang, who joined the C. T. Bauer College of Business in 2020, recently received a prestigious information systems award and was appointed an Associate Editor at MIS Quarterly, a top tier Management Information Systems (MIS) academic journal.
