Dear Faculty and Staff, We hope that you and your loved ones are healthy and safe. As we confront the immediate challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, we need to start developing solutions to mitigate the potential impact of financial losses during the remainder of the calendar year, as well as identify beneficial operating models to assist the University as it adapts to the new normal. To that end, we recently formed a campuswide task force to explore new, innovative, and even potentially disruptive ways to help the University operate in a post-COVID-19 world. We need your participation. We need ideas and solutions from the people who teach our students and from the people who support and maintain the University. With that in mind, the Faculty Senate and the Staff Council have agreed to jointly solicit input from faculty and staff by replying to a short, anonymous survey that will be emailed to you in the coming days. You will have the opportunity to respond to questions like: Can you share with us one idea or solution that can be implemented in the next six weeks to six months designed to increase UH's revenue and/or decrease UH's expenditures? And Can you share with us one idea or solution that can be implemented in the next 12 to 24 months that supports the mission and aspirations of UH? We urge you to be thinking along those lines and, when the survey arrives, to share your thoughts. We don't know what the task force’s final recommendations will be, but we do know that your valuable input will be seriously analyzed and given due consideration. We are looking for realistic, operationally viable, and high-impact solutions that will help our University successfully recover and prevail. We thank you for your support.
