Dear Employees,

With the new year upon us, it is so important to find healthy ways of dealing with stress and building personal resiliency.  To assist you in doing so, the Human Resources Benefits Department would like to remind you of the following support resources available to you:

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) – The University’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential counseling and referral program available to employees and their dependents. Accessible online and via their 24-hour crisis line (1-800-346-3549), the EAP provides a variety of resources including tele counseling.  As a UH employee, you are entitled to 3 free sessions per topic per year.  Should you desire more sessions, the EAP can refer you to an in-network provider. To access and learn more about EAP resources, click here or call 713-500-3327.

POWER UP Employee Wellness  – Throughout the year, HR’s POWER UP Employee Wellness program coordinates different wellness-related opportunities for UH employees. This spring boost your health and well-being by participating in a Healthier U virtual learning session. For a schedule of these free workshops and webinars, click here.

BCBSTX HealthSelect  – As a BCBSTX HealthSelect participant, you also have access to mental (and medical) health virtual visits through Doctor on Demand and MDLIVE. These visits are covered at no cost to you at this time.  Learn more about your BCBSTX HealthSelect mental health benefits here or speak with a Personal Health Assistant at 1-800- 252-8039 (TTY:711).

Bright Horizons – Your Bright Horizon benefit provides participants with family solutions and additional family supports in the form of back-up child and/or elder care.

  • Back-Up Child Care: Bright Horizons offers both center-based and in-home childcare when regular care arrangements fall through, for unexpected school closures or illness, or as an out-of-town resource during conference travel. Center-based care is $15 per child, per day or $25 per family per day. In-home care is $6 per hour for up to three care recipients, with a four-hour minimum.
  • Back-Up Elder Care: If you serve as the primary caregiver for an elder or loved one, utilize in-home backup care for your loved one's needs. In-home care is $6 per hour for up to three care recipients, with a four-hour minimum.

To get started, visit: https://clients.brighthorizons.com/uh. Input Username: UH and Password: care4you.  Next, download the App: Search "back-up care" in the App Store or Google Play.

Thank you.
