Emergency Funding Available

The Diamond Emergency Fund was created to provide funds for emergency financial needs to current full time students who have spent time in the foster care system, are orphaned or a ward of the state. The application for assistance is now open! Contact diamondscholars@uh.edu for more information.

Apply for exCITE Talks by September 1

exCITE Talks is an online competition that recognizes achievement in internships, service, and research. Amazon gift cards (up to $500!) will be awarded at the final on September 29.  Deadline to apply: September 

Energy Career Fair

The Energy Career Fair is a campus wide networking and recruitment event for ALL MAJORS! Students and recent alumni can virtually meet with employers from the energy sector, to learn about internship or full-time job opportunities. The event will take place virtually through Cougar Pathway. When: September 10, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Greek-A-Palooza

Interested in joining a sorority or fraternity? Come checkout Greek-A-Palooza! It is an organization fair where UH students will be able to connect with the different sororities and fraternities on campus. This is a great opportunity to chat with and learn more about what each chapter has to offer. When: September 1, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Lynn Eusan Park

Ally Tie-Dye

A variety of t-shirt designs will be available for students to choose and decorate while learning about resources and support services offered to our LGBTQ+ community and allies. This event is co-sponsored by the LGBTQ Resource Center, Student Housing & Residential Life, and Commuter Student Services. When: September 2, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Butler Plaza

LGBTQ+ Ice Cream Social

This is a social space for socializing! Be prepared to meet people in a fun way. Our greeting committee will be there to welcome students to the space and help them ease into conversations at their own pace. Students can also meet the LGBTQ Resource Center staff and student organization leaders in a casual environment with delicious ice cream treats (non-dairy options available). We will also have a raffle for a Bluetooth Speaker giveaway! When: September 9, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Student Center South Multipurpose Room (Rm. 237) 

SAGA Squad Applications Due

Looking for a way to get involved? Check out SAGA Squad! This LGBTQ+ Ambassador program will develop a team of 5-7 aspiring student leaders to develop leadership skills and and gain student leader experience through the lens of *S*exuality *A*nd *G*ender *A*cceptance (which spells out SAGA!). Applications are available now on Get Involved. Deadline: September 13

Virtual Pop-Up Library + Book Showcase

“This is exhilarating, so get excited!” Join us for a fun virtual event via Instagram in partnership with Blaffer Art Museum's First Friday Studio Sessions. Start by browsing through a selection of curated art books & museum catalogs on view. Then learn how to design an album cover & weave a collage. Free Wednesday Lunch

A “home-cooked” meal is provided to 170 to 230 UH students, staff, and faculty members through the generosity of Church of Christ groups in the Houston area. Come and get it! It might be the best meal of your week! When: September 1, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., A.D. Bruce Religion Center, Second Floor

Loteria and Latinas REACH

Drop by the Women and Gender Resource Center next Wednesday, September 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. for Loteria and Latinas REACH! REACH is a community support space for Latina-identified graduate students at UH. We'd love to meet you! 

Suicide Prevention Training: QPR

Join Counseling and Psychological Services every Monday and Thursday 12  to 1 p.m. to learn the skills needed to prevent suicide and create a community of care at UH. Sign up is required.
