Live On Campus this Spring

Apply today to live on campus this spring! There are spaces available in every residence hall. The $300 prepayment is waived! All you need to get started is your $50 application fee. Login to AccessUH and select the myHousing portal to apply! More information can be found at the Student Housing and Residential Life website.

Homecoming 2020

We are excited to announce Homecoming 2020 will be held November 9- November 14. This year's theme will be “Strengthen Our Roots. Strength In Your Roots” to highlight the strength each memeber of our UH community, as well as the strength the university possesses, to enact positive change in the world. People of Color Discussion Group

The LGBTQ+ POC Discussion Group is for all sexual and gender identities as well as people questioning their identity. It is an intentional space for students of color to share lived experiences. Check our calendar for more information.

Suicide Prevention Training: QPR

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month! Join CAPS every Wednesday this month from 12-1 p.m. to learn the skills needed to prevent suicide and create a community of care at UH. Sign up is required.

CAPS Adds Let's Talk Morning Hours

CAPS is here for you, Cougars! Do you need a brief consultation with a counselor, but not interested in on-going services? “Let’s Talk” is a perfect alternative. This consultation service is available to all UH students, faculty, and staff. To access a counselor, call 713-743-5454 and Let’s Talk!

Hours:

  • Mondays | 11 a.m. to noon; 3 to 4 p.m.
  • Tuesdays | 10 to 11 a.m.; 3 to 4 p.m.
  • Wednesdays-Fridays | 3 to 4 p.m.

Coogs Conquer (C-2) Series

CAPS is helping Coogs Conquer (C-2) mental health concerns through our online C-2 series. These brief group sessions will continue throughout September and are free to UH students, faculty, and staff. Check out the CAPS calendar for a complete list of dates and times.

  • Mindfulness —Learn about and practice techniques proven to improve focus and reduce stress.
  • Return to "Campus  — Join us Thursdays to share and discuss ways to engage successfully both emotionally and academically this fall.
  • Racial Trauma is Real — Protests following the murders of Black community members have reignited long-overdue conversations about anti-black racism in America. Learn about and understand the impact of racial trauma and how to cope and/or support those affected by racially traumatic events.

Cooglife Magazine's "Grad School Guide" Out Now!

Cooglife Magazine (UH's life, arts and culture magazine) presents our annual Grad School Guide. This issue is filled with plenty of how-to guides on acing your grad school applications, preparing for the GRE, paying for your degree, managing your time, and more. Our monthly playlist and quiz have fun grad school twists, too!

Moores School Symphony Orchestra

The Moores School Symphony Orchestra's Fall 2020 exciting Season Opener will feature two symphonies by Haydn & Mozart. This performance will be both live in-person and streamed live virtually. Both are free, but RSVP is required.
