Involvement opportunities on campus

Want to get involved? Volunteer? Check out these opportunities on campus:

  • Health Center Policy Board Open Positions: The Student Government Association is looking for three to nine student representatives to serve on the Health Center Policy Board. Applicants must be members of the American Medical Student Association. It is extremely crucial that we have student feedback as we navigate COVID while maintaining in-person classes. To apply, log in to AccessUH, click Get Involved, Search Student Government Association, and look under forms for the University Committee Appointment Application.
  • Get Involved at the Rec: Campus Recreation is open and available for students to stop by and have fun! Enjoy some of our group fitness classes including Yoga, Zumba, and Fit Camp, or bring out your competitive side with our intramural and club sports. Campus Rec has something for everyone!
  • Apply for Dance Marathon Executive Board: UH Dance Marathon (DM) is not your typical student organization, it’s the start of a lifestyle! Make fun memories, gain leadership skills, and leave your mark on the community as you join the UH DM experience. UH DM gives you the chance to make a difference in the lives of families at Texas Children’s Hospital by spreading awareness and raising money for pediatric illnesses. You can join the miracle-making movement by applying to be a part of the UH DM Executive Board. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so take the first step and apply today! 
  • Apply to be on the Student Fees Advisory Committee: The Student Government Association is looking for committed students with diverse backgrounds to apply for The Student Fees Advisory Committee (SFAC). SFAC is made up of students and faculty members, and plays a very important role, recommending funding allocations for Student Services Fees on behalf of all students at the University of Houston. To apply, log into the Get Involved portal, look for the Student Government Association page, and the application will be under forms, University Committee Appointment.   • Critical Thinking + Helping Others: Are you uncertain about how to make a difference? Are you wondering what to do with your life? Join the Arete Fellowship, a program to think critically about helping others and find a fulfilling career that also benefits the world. Deadline extended to September 21
  • Project T.R.E.E. Officer Recruitment: The 2021-2022 Project T.R.E.E. is recruiting officers! Project Teaching Refugees Effective English provides English tutoring to incoming refugee adults to develop their self-sufficiency. Those who would like to connect with the refugee community through this project have the opportunity to apply for leadership positions such as Financial Officer, ESL Curriculum Development Specialist, and Data Analyst. Emergency Grant Applications Open

The University of Houston is accepting applications for emergency grants to help degree-seeking students whose households have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Learn more information and how to apply here

Suicide Prevention Training: QPR

Join CAPS every Monday and Thursday, Noon to 1 p.m. to learn the skills needed to prevent suicide and create a community of care at UH. Sign up is required.

Let's Talk Consultations

Informal mental health consultation is available for students, faculty and staff. Drop into the Let's Talk and chat with a CAPS clinician today. Times and locations can be found on the Let's Talk website.

All Bicycles on Campus Need to be Registered

Students, faculty and staff who have a bicycle on campus are required to register it. Registration takes only minutes to complete and is free. A registration sticker will be provided and should be placed on the bicycle.

Join us for Constitution Day!

Constitution Day is a celebration of the signing of the U.S. Constitution at the Constitution Convention on September 17, 1787. By celebrating Constitution Day, we hope to encourage the UH community to continue learning and appreciating this living document which, despite its birth over 200 years ago, still plays an integral role in our everyday lives. When: September 22, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Student Center South — Tabling.

  • Amazing Race | Dining Edition: Want to win some free food whle getting to know your meal plan a bit better? Join UH Dining's Amazing Race from September 6-20 by completing challenges. New prizes are given out for completion of any 12,15, and 24 challenges, and the prizes are cumulative! The first conttestant to complete all 24 challenges will win the grand prize. Challenges for this semester's Amazing Race can be found @uhfoodie.
  • Joyful Street Food Festival: Cougar Woods Dining Hall will be featuring some street food festival favorites and will have some outdoor activities to enjoy out at the Front Porch. When: September 24
