Housing COVID-19 Update
08/12/2020, 02:45:01 PM
Dear Cougar Family,

With the fall semester starting in a few weeks, the team at Student Housing and Residential Life would like to thank you for choosing to live on campus. There have been several changes in our residence halls, and we want to ensure that you have all the information you need before you move-in.

Cougar Move-in
Cougar Move-in will take place August 17-22 and we have staggered our move-in times to promote social distancing throughout the week. All residents will need to sign up for a move-in date and time by August 16. If you haven’t selected your move-in date and time, log into AccessUH and select the myHousing portal.

Review our Move-in Guide for information on what to bring and what to leave at home when preparing to move into your residence hall. For directions to your individual residence hall and a move-in parking map, please click here.

Cougar Card
Your Cougar Card is the official University of Houston access card for all students. Please make sure to upload your photo before your Move-in date and time by following these instructions. Your new Cougar Card will be distributed during your scheduled move-in appointment.

Face Coverings Required in the Residential Halls
Until further notice, the University of Houston requires face coverings for all students and employees while on-campus. Face coverings are not required when students are in their personal on-campus residence hall rooms/suites or apartments (including private and suite-style bathrooms). When you and your roommate first come together at the start of the semester, you should have a discussion around face-covering expectations. More information about Face Coverings in the residential halls can be found here.

Guest and Visitor Policy
At this time, guests and visitors are not allowed in resident’s rooms, suites or apartments. Residents are required to limit guests to only one at any time and only in community spaces where social spaces of at least 6 feet are maintained. Guests may again be allowed once the pandemic improves and/or successful treatment/vaccines become widely available. More information about our Guest and Visitor Policy can be found here.

Reporting Guidelines
Students living in university housing are required to report to the institution if and when they have been diagnosed with COVID-19 under the University of Houston COVID-19 guidelines. More information can be found at https://uh.edu/covid-19/.

If you are diagnosed with or exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, complete the form Reporting COVID-19 Diagnosis/Symptoms. During business hours, notify your Desk Assistant (DA) or Residence Advisor (RA). If your DA/RA is unavailable, contact your Residence Life Coordinator (RLC). Stay home, avoid contact with others, and continue to monitor your symptoms.

We All Have to Do Our Part
We have a shared responsibility to take the necessary steps to help minimize the spread of COVID-19 in the residential halls. Each of us must commit to doing our part to protect ourselves and those around us. Remember to wash your hands, wear your face covering, clean your space regularly, and follow social distancing protocols while you’re on campus.
