All Majors Virtual Career Fair

The All Majors Virtual Career Fair will be on September 16 from 12-4 p.m. The event will be hosted virtually on Cougar Pathway.

Students must register and complete their chat profile in Cougar Pathway. There will be a Pre-Event Tutorial on September 14 from 3-4 p.m. To attend, register for the "Fall 2020 All Majors Virtual Career Fair Demo Day" workshop in Cougar Pathway.

  • How do I attend? Is registration required? YES. Login to AccessUH and RSVP today in Cougar Pathway. Click the “Attend” button and complete your chat profile.
  • How will I connect with recruiters? Students will be connected to employers with a video call. Professional dress is required.
  • Do I need a resume to participate? Yes, you will need a resume.

Cougar Cupboard Open for Pickups

Cougar Cupboard is open for pick-up. Go to the Cougar Cupboard website to enroll and reserve your pre-bagged groceries. For those who cannot make it in person, we will be offering Door Dash delivery by the end of the month in partnership with the Houston Food Bank and United Way. 

Gender Equity Week

Gender Equity Week is an opportunity for UH community members to discuss gender: from its simplest terms and definitions to current events and issues. Join our office in recognizing and celebrating gender equity for all members across the gender spectrum. UH Outdoor Warning Siren System

You may have heard the sirens being tested. But did you know the Outdoor Warning Siren is part of the UH ALERT emergency notification system and provides a quick method of notifying the entire campus to seek shelter indoors? Additional information on the UH Outdoor Warning Siren can be found on the Outdoor Warning Siren System website

Do you know what to do in an emergency? This Emergency Preparedness Poster was created to provide helpful emergency information on how to report an emergency, what to do in a fire evacuation, shelter-in-place directives and active shooter events. It also includes information on our UH ALERT Notification system. Print it out and keep it handy!

InterVarsity Ministry is a multiethnic community that loves Jesus and wants to see the campus renewed. Large Groups are our general meetings where we get together to explore who Jesus is in a safe environment. The Baptist Student Ministry is offering a place for students to come for a cup of coffee, Chai, or tea, and a quiet place to study.

CAPS Adds Let's Talk Morning Hours

CAPS is here for you, Cougars! Do you need a brief consultation with a counselor, but not interested in on-going services? “Let’s Talk” is a perfect alternative. This consultation service is available to all UH students, faculty, and staff. To access a counselor, call 713-743-5454 and Let’s Talk!

Hours:

  • Mondays 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 to 4 p.m.
  • Tuesdays 10 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 4 p.m.
  • Wednesdays through Fridays 3 to 4 p.m.

Coogs Conquer (C-2) Series

CAPS is helping Coogs Conquer (C-2) mental health concerns through our online C-2 series. These brief group sessions will continue throughout September and are free to UH students, faculty, and staff. Check out the CAPS calendar for a complete list of dates and times.

Suicide Prevention Training: QPR

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month! Join CAPS every Wednesday this month from 12-1 p.m. to learn the skills needed to prevent suicide and create a community of care at UH. Sign up is required.

Insights into Pediatric Sarcomas: Biology and Patient Care

UHCOP's National Cancer Institute-funded Cancer Research Education Program Alliance with Baylor College of Medicine welcomes Dr. Jason Yustein for his September 15 seminar, "Insights into Pediatric Sarcomas: Biology and Patient Care."

The seminar will be held via Zoom. Please email golda@uh.edu by September 10 for the passcode.

Ask Your Engineering Librarian

Engineering librarian Edward Gloor will host open hours for UH engineering students each Thursday of the Fall 2020 semester. Beginning September 17, 1 to 2 p.m., engineering students are encouraged to access the Microsoft Teams space and log in with Cougarnet credentials. Gloor will be available to help you start your research, find sources, and organize your research.
