Answers About Reopening Research
We are now in our third week of Reopening Research with about 1,300 individuals on campus conducting research. It is important to follow the guidelines of wearing a face mask, social distancing and frequent hand-washing. Without a vaccine or a cure, these are our best options to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus. If you have not read SVP McShan’s email from April 27 about the UH requirement of wearing a face mask, please do so ASAP.

When it comes to waging war on the COVID-19 virus, those most likely to suit up are women.
“Nearly 90% of nurses and nursing assistants in the United States are women,” said Kathryn Tart, professor and founding dean of the UH College of Nursing, noting that women are also overwhelmingly the primary caretakers of their families. “With schools closed across the country, our female health care providers are left with a demanding, if not impossible schedule.”

A study of the energy workforce released Thursday found that more than 70% of workers prefer to continue working remotely.

Daily PI "To Do" List
As a reminder to research teams back on campus, be sure you and everyone on your team:
- Performs a daily health check
- Wears a mask in close proximity to others
- Washes hands regularly, according to CDC guidelines
Checking your temperature daily before coming to campus and wearing a mask when working around other researchers is required for everyone back on campus. It is also required that everyone continue to practice social distancing to prevent the spread of germs.
