Free virtual performances scheduled

Students can check out these upcoming virtual performances:

  • Mommies & Mimosas:  By senior playwright Audrey Morabito. After a seemingly never-ending summer, this quick-witted club of “Baby Mamas” is thrilled to be celebrating freedom after dropping their little ones off on the first day of preschool. Queen Bee Heather has invited Charlotte and Lydia to her Pinterest-perfect home in suburbia for their annual boozy brunch, some fierce humble bragging, and a candid look at motherhood. All goes as planned until Jane, newcomer to the neighborhood, shows up at Heather’s doorstep eight months pregnant and desperate for girlfriends. The playful party games and cliquey ceremonies soon unravel, exposing heartache behind the mask of motherhood. When: October 30 and 31 at 8 p.m. November 1 at 2 p.m.
  • Freefall: Two brothers from the South Side of Chicago struggle to define their relationship, torn apart by their pasts as an ex-con and the policeman who threw him in jail. They are drawn together as both of them are in need of redemption, but neither one is ready to tell the other the truth. Virtual performances streaming on November 13 and 14 at 8 p.m. and November 15 at 2 p.m.
  • The Carrier: A post office in Houston's Third Ward, 2020. Supervisor M. Bell’s recent promotion threatens to drive a wedge between her and her postal carrier friends and subordinates. Tensions explode when packages begin to come up missing and a Postal Inspector starts an investigation. The once airtight work family begins to buckle under the pressures of self-preservation and the struggles of their lives outside the workplace. This is a provocative and timely new play by UH Senior playwright, Patrina Randolph, about the value of relationships and the riveting effects of betrayal. Virtual Performances on November 20 and 21 at 8 p.m. and November 22 at 2 p.m.
